He lived with his parents and two siblings in Handsworth, Staffordshire, England. In 1911 he was still living with his parents. He was aged 17 and single.

When the 1st World War broke out Frederick enlisted and served with the 1st/6th Bn. Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He attained the rank of Serjeant. Service No: 2787
Sadly he was killed in action on 1 July 1916 at the age of 23.
