Victor was born in 1959. He was passionate about helping others and volunteered in many capacities, such as helping children with special needs at his church and volunteering with children's bible study. [1]He led the Oddyssey of the Mind team at Moore Elementary and was dedicated to helping his clients at the halfway house improve their lives and become productive members of society.[2] One of his halfway house clients, Carla Burgess, said of Vic: "He never gave up on me. He took something so hurting inside and so mean and gave me a third chance." [3] Another client, Jeff Krogstad, said that when they found out the news that Victor had passed away, "Two or three different guys immediately started sharing experiences that their life was changed. That is part of Victor's legacy." [4] Victor started at the halfway house as a security guard and worked his way up to case manager, residential programs manager, and correctional services manager. [5] He worked at the halfway house until two weeks before his death.[6] Victor met his wife, Jody, while both were working at Martin Luther Home, a residential care facility for people with disabilities. [7] Victor passed away in 2012 of gastric cancer. [8]
