Taken from the family history below: He lived in Chester County, PA for a time. According to the records at Guilford College (NC) his son John was born there. He migrated to NC and was granted land by "His Grace, The Earl of Granvill, on the Mud Lick Creek in Chatham Co on August 20, in the year of our Lord 1759". The amount of land is stated to be 382 acres.
There are several detailed transactions of the land changing hands between Jesse and Levy and others between 1759 and at the death of John in/around 1774. His known children: Levy and Jesse.
There is no John Johnson on the 1790 Census in Chatham County. There is a Jesse Johnson and a Levi Johnson: 2 males >10, 2 males <10 and 4 females
