Jeremiah was born in 1845. He was the son of Jeremiah Johnson and Julia Doolittle. [1]


His family came to Winnebago County, Illinois in 1837. They settled in Harlem Township. [2] [3]

He married Ellen "Nellie" Wheeler in Wisconsin. [4]

Jeremiah passed away in 1866. [5]

Civil War

Jeremiah and his brother David enlisted in the Illinois 11th Calvary in January 1865. He is recorded as having deserted in July 1865 in Memphis. The war was pretty much over by then and he died about 6 months later so he was probably ill. [6][7]
