Biography

Jemima Mason was born in 1851 in New York, United States. [1]

In the 1861 census Jemima Mason (age about 10) was living in Dalton, Yorkshire, England. Relationship: Niece. Aunt is a schoolmistress and had boarding scholars.[1]

In the 1871 census Jemima Mason (age about 20) was living in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England. Relationship: Daughter. Mother Jemima is a teacher.[2]

Jemima Mason departed London and arrived in Sydney NSW together with Margaret Johnston aged 14 on 17 January 1887.[3]

Marriage 1: When Jemima Mason was about 40 she married Edward Atkins (1828–1906) on 18 April 1891 in All Saints Church of England, Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia.[4]

Marriage 2: Jemima Mason Atkins married Samuel Withers (1852–1929) on 16 November 1912 at St Peter's Church, St Peters, Cooks River, Sydney: Samuel Withers, (recorded both as retired civil servant, and Superintendent Veterans Home), La Perouse, Jemima, a widow, was a music teacher living at Tempe.[5][6]

Death: 1 August 1929. Burial at Waverley Cemetery, Bronte, NSW.[7]
