Biography
William was born in about 1854 [1] to Oliver Johnston and Elizabeth Smith. He married Susanna White in 1882. [2]
In 1901, William Johnston, age 46 (DOB 1854-02-05) lived in Euphrasia with Susannah (43), Francis (16), Arletta (15), Clarence (13), Gladys (10) and Frederick (8).[3]
In 1911, William Johnston, age 57 (DOB Feb 1854) lived in Thornbury with Susannah (54) and Gladys (20).[4]
In 1921, Wm F Johnston, age 67 (born in Ontario) lived in Thornbury with Susana (64).[5]
William passed away in 1934. [6]
"Oliver Johnston was born in County Fermanagh, Ireland, in 1803, and came to Canada in 1821. He settled on Lot 16, Con. VI. In 1847 he married Elizabeth Smith. They had a family of ten children: John, Arthur and William (all of Collingwood Township); Sarah (Mrs. Carscadden); Thomas, married Anna Rogers; Mary A. ; Sophia (Mrs. Henry Russell); Martha (Mrs. David Russell, Lot 15, Con. VII), and Lancelot, who married Emily Taylor and lived on the old homestead. Oliver Johnston died in 1897 and his wife in 1908." [7]
