Biography

Elizabeth Johnston was born 6 Mar 1831 at Bannockburn in St. Ninians, Stirling, Scotland.^[1][2]

On 7 Jun 1841 she was residing in her father's household at Bannockburn in St. Ninians, Stirling, Scotland.^[3]

On 31 Mar 1851 she was residing with her widowed mother in St. Ninians, Stirling, Scotland. Her occupation was Woollen Mill Reeler.^[2]

On 13 Jul 1855 she married Michael Rae in Larbert, Stirling, Scotland.^[1]

On 7 Apr 1861 Michael and Elizabeth were residing at Muirhall Farm in Larbert, Stirling, Scotland.^[4]

On 2 Apr 1871 Michael and Elizabeth were residing in Stenhousemuir, Larbert, Stirling, Scotland.^[5]

Michael predeceased her in 1875.

On 3 Apr 1881 she was residing in Broomage Brae, Larbert, Stirling, Scotland. Her occupation was Cow Keeper.^[6]

In about 1879 her two oldest sons immigrated to the United States, followed by her three remaining sons in April 1883. Elizabeth made the journey with daughter Catherine later in the year, arriving at New York on 20 Aug 1883 aboard The Circassia.^[7] Married daughter Elizabeth remained in Scotland.

Elizabeth and her children settled in Fairhaven (Bellingham), Whatcom, Washington, United States.

Elizabeth died 5 Mar 1900 and was buried in Bayview Cemetery, Bellingham, Washington, United States.^[8]
