Biography

Arthur Irwin Johnston was born At Sea on 10 May 1851, possibly off Indonesia, the son of Arthur Johnston and Eliza Morrow. He was baptised at Geelong, Victoria on 23 Dec 1851.^[1] No details on the vessel that the Johnston family travelled on have been located.

Arthur Irwin Johnston, son of Arthur Johnston and Eliza Morrow, married Wilhemina Michaelis, daughter of Augustus Michaelis and Franziska Germer, in Albury NSW on 30 Nov 1880.^[2] They had 9 children: Minni; Amelia Williamson; Hugh; Charles; Arthur; Ruth Glenney; Queenie Thompson (1891-1960); Cecile Downs (1893-1971); and Herbert.^[3]

Arthur Irwin Johnston passed away on 19 may 1911 at Wilcannia, NSW.^[4] He was survived by his wife Wilhelmina and 7 of his 9 children and at least 5 grandchildren.^[3]
