died in the blast from the eruption of Mount Saint Helens in 1980. Is included on the memorial, dedicated in 2000, for the known victims of the blast.[2]
The ridge where he was last stationed now bears his name[3]
body was never recovered[2] but remnants of his USGS trailer were uncovered in 1993[1]
