Biography
Samuel was born in 1789 in Middletown, Connecticut. He married Margaretta Wilson in 1819 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He died in 1833 in Cincinnati, Ohio. [1]
Rev. Samuel Johnston (Jr.) was “the first rector of Christ Church (Cincinnati), who ministered its clerical affairs from March 1818 until August 1827, was born in Middletown, Connecticut, August 1787. He was a son of Captain Samuel Johnston (Sr.), who was drowned at sea.” [2]
NOTE: birth dates from these two sources do not exactly agree.
Rev. Samuel Johnston was born 18 August 1789 in Massachusetts. He married Margareta E. (1790-1873). They had at least one child, Sarah Hallam (Johnston) Huntington. Samuel died on 22 May 1833 in Cincinnati, and is buried with his wife and daughter Sarah in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. [3]
