Biography
Francis was born in 1905. He was the son of Frank Johnston and Eula Shuptrine. He was a military man, but after the death of his first wife in childbirth he became an alcoholic. He was put in position of president of the Shuptrine Company after his father's retirement, and he "ran it into the ground," so that the company was dissolved in the late 1960's. He married a second time and had two more children with his second wife. One died at age 16 of appendicitis and the other, Eulalia Lane Johnston, apparently died childless, despite having married at least twice. He passed away in 1967 in Mexico from complications of alcoholism.
