Biography

Eliza was born in 1824. She is the daughter of Robert Johnston and Anna Hartley.

1841 Census: Charles The Martyr, Devon, England - Robert and Ann Johnson have two children: Eliza (16) and Rawson (14), and a female servant at home on census night. Robert, 46, is in the Army and was born Ireland. Ann is 41, and like the rest of the household was not born in Devon. The children are not noted as being born in Foreign Parts, and their ages belie the birthdates recorded on the sourced joint baptism document - being ten years out - their birth years apparently mistranscribed from the original baptism register when copying the document for the Bishop. ^{[1] [2]}
