"My father, Nathaniel Inch, was born at Ederney Bridge, County Fermanagh, Ireland on the 5th of November, 1797. His father (Leonard Inch) died a few months after the son's birth, and the mother (nee Ann Sproule) was left with three children, the eldest of whom was only 5 years old. Thus left a widow at the age of 26, she married a second time, in 1800, a man by the name of William Johnstone, who died in 1801 leaving an infant son named William. Three years afterwards she married a third time a man by the name of Holmes, by whom she had five children, all daughters. She died in 1813, and her husband (Holmes) died ten days afterwards. The eldest child (Elizah Inch) had died in 1811. The remaining eight children were left orphans when the eldest was only 18 years old and youngest only 2."[2]
