Biography
David Johnston was born in 1761 in Dailly, Ayrshire, the son of James Johnstone and Jean (Clark) Johnstone, and he lived there. He married Mary (May) Paul, sister of Rev. Hamilton Paul of the Church of Scotland. They had one son and four daughters, including Margaret (Johnston) Aird. Their son remained a bachelor and was a printer in Ayr.
