- The death record says she was twelve when she died but the family card containing all the birth dates for these children (and probably in the hand of her mother) gives this girls date of birth as December 7th, 1862. This also fits much better with the birth of the next child Arthur on August 15th, 1865. All the other birth dates on this card for this family of children match the records exactly.
Sarah's death notice appeared in the Hobart Mercury on Thursday 31st August 1876:
Johnston - On the 30th August, at the residence of her uncle, Capt Curphy, Prince's Street, Landsdowne Crescent, Sarah Jane, second daughter of the late James William Johnston, aged 12 years and seven months.
