Worthy Citizen Passes.
Mr George Henry Johnston of "Calderwood " Rylstone passed away at his home on Tuesday about 9 P. M. Age 69. The deceased was born in this district and resided practically the whole period of his life here except for a few years when he was serving as an apprentice in the city. On completion he took up a partnership with Mr Thomas Taylor a blacksmith. He retired about 1918, but still continued to carry on the business as a Wheelwright ,Blacksmith and Coach painter. Mr George Honeysett served his apprenticeship to the painting trade with Mr Johnston. The deceased was one of the finest tradesman ever seen outside the city and it seems strange that none of the boys followed in their dad's footsteps. The deceased had been ailing for about a fortnight. At tea time on Tuesday he ate a hearty meal, arose from his chair and walked to the door where he fell, dying about an hour later. The deceased married three times. His first wife being Miss Nash ? Who died shortly after the marriage. Mr Johnston then married Miss Matilda Honeysett daughter of Mr & Mrs Jas. Honeysett of Cox Street, to this Union 5 children were born. Messers Colin - Alan - Maurice - Noel and a daughter Hazel. After the death of his second wife he married Mrs Dale and to this Union a daughter Marie was born. He is survived by his widow and 6 children.All members of the family were together including two of Mr Johnsons surviving brothers Ted and Jack Johnston. The funeral took place at the family allotment, Rylstone Cemetery at 2 P. M. on Thursday.
