JOHNSTONE Minr. of the Gospel at Moffat son to John JOHNSTONE of Gallabank who died January 15th, 1761 aged 45 and is interred in the church of Moffat. Dr. William JOHNSTON died in Jamaica January 9th, 1745 aged 25. Adam JOHNSTONE died in Germany in 1761 aged 29. Here lyes Dr. Richard JOHNSTONE who died March 7th 1768 aged 29. Also Agnes JOHNSTONE who died June 16th, 1761 aged 23. Here also is interred the venerable father of this numerous family John JOHNSTONE Esqr. of Gallabank representative of the JOHNSTONES of Milnfield and Newby Castle and an ancient Cadet of the JOHNSTONES of Johnstone. He died the 12th day of October, 1774 aged 86 years and 4 months. [Note: John JOHNSTONE b. ca. June, 1688] “The hoary head is a crown of glory if it be found in the way of righteousness”.
