Margaret was born 19 Mar 1834 and was baptised 21 Apr 1834 in Annan, Dumfries, Scotland. [1] She came from Scotland with her family to Long River in 1834. She married John A. Hogg 23 Jan 1872 in Prince Edward Island. [2] By 1901 they lived in Lot 19, Prince, Prince Edward Island, Canada. [3] By 1911, Margaret and her daughter Mary lived in the home of her son, John A. Hogg and family in Kelvin Grove, Prince, Prince Edward Island. [4] Margaret died 23 Apr 1920 and was buried in Summerfield United Church Cemetery. [5] [6]

"MRS. JOHN HOGG: Mrs. John Hogg, died at Kelvin on March 23rd after a gradual de-cadence that lasted throughout the winter. In maidenhood she was Margaret Johnston sister of the late William Johnston, Long River. About 48 years ago she was married to the late John Hogg and settled in Kelvin. The issue of the marriage was a family of two, Mary Janette and John Andrew, both on the homestead..." [7] [8]

Research Notes

Although the newspaper obituary says she died March 23 1920 in Kelvin Grove and was buried on April 25, the date on gravestone is April 23 1920, which agrees with the official death record and the obituary in the Summerside Journal.
