Biography

Few vital records found, but marriage. No census information found. Birth information from California Voters Registration.

Laurie Angel McGuinness was the granddaugther of William Wiley Johnstone and his wife Martha E Horne. She shared that William was a lawyer from New York. His children's census records indicate the nativity of each from New York and mother from Canada, which other records (voter registration, Canadian Census records, DNA results) support.

William and Martha died young leaving the children with relatives. No documents have been found to indicate who they lived with, but a death notice in the San Francsco Call 16 Oct 1894 pg 10 for Charles W. Horne, Martha's brother, indicates he was the uncle of Mabel and Walter Johnstone. Charles also died young, aged 35 years.
