Biography

Eliza (Johnstone) Brown was born in Scotland.

Eliza Alice Wilson Johnstone was born in 1873 in Udny, the daughter of John Johnstone and Jessie Taylor Bonner. In the 1881 census, 7 year old Eliza was living with her parents and siblings at 28 Charles St in Aberdeen. In the 1901 census, 27 year old Eliza A, a Dressmaker, was living with her parents and sisters Mary A C B 21, a Dyer Shop Assistant, Elsie G 17, a Dressmaker and Maggie J B age 15 at 48 Loanhead Terr in Aberdeen.

On 15 Oct 1901, 27 year old Eliza Alice Wilson Johnstone, a Dressmaker, married 26 year old William John Brown, a Sawmill Worker. Witnesses were (can't make out first name) Brown, and Mary Johnstone. As a side note, a couple years later William's brother Alexander would marry Eliza's sister Mary Ann.

In the 1911 census, 40 year old William, a Farm Labourer, and 35 year old Eliza were with their 11 year old son at 27 Marywell St in Aberdeen.

Husband William John died in 1938. Alice died 04 Dec 1960 at 23 Belvedere Crescent in Aberdeen. She was 87 years old and died of Cardiovascular Degeneration, A Flutter, and Left Heart Failure. Her son was present when she died. Alice and other members of her family are buried in the Springbank Cemetery in Aberdeen^[1].

1. Not sure why their ages are 26 and 27 when they married and then 40 and 35 in the 1911 census.
2. 1911 census shows Eliza was born in Udny but the Scotlands People birth search results show Old Machar, Aberdeen.
