Biography
Cited in his son's will, Merchant in Port Glasgow. Mr David Johnstone was born at Dumfries 26 Dec 1751, he died at Port Glasgow 28 May 1836 , much regretted. He had long retired from being in command of many ships and latterly managed ( at Pt Glasgow) the Gourock Rope Work Co of which he was a partner MARRIED Marion Fairrie born at Irvine 4 Sept 1754 ( altered to 1752) & died at Port Glasgow 19 Feb 1815 aged 61 years 5 months and 15 days.
