VANMETER, Etna Flo – Age 61 of Medford, Oregon passed away Sunday February 22, 1998 at her home. She was born February 7, 1937 in Calhan, Colorado to Milburn and Naomi (Beaman) Joiner. Etna was married to Ray VanMeter on October 5, 1958 in Wilbur, Oregon. In 1984 they moved to the Rogue Valley from Roseburg. Mrs. VanMeter worked in customer services in the mail order department with Bear Creek Corporation from 1990 to 1998. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Medford. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 93 of Central Point. Mrs VanMeter enjoyed gardening, sewing and singing in the church choir. She is survived by her husband, Ray VanMeter of Medford, Oregon; two sons, Mike VanMeter of Bend, Oregon and Sam VanMeter of Troutdale, Oregon; two daughters, Laura VanMeter of Medford and Barbara Jaworski of Roseburg; her mother, Naomi Hansen of Grants Pass, Oregon; two sisters, Sue Lee of Grants Pass and Helen Batey of Mesa, Arizona and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Milburn Joiner in 1974. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28, 1998 at 1 p.m. At the first United Methodist Church, 607 West Main Street, Medford, Oregon. Pastor Emmett Shortreed of the First United Methodist Church will be officiating. ROUGE VALLEY FUNERAL ALTERNATIVES of Medford is in charge of arrangements.
