David Joiner enlisted into the 44th Alabama Infantry Regiment, Co J in Bibb County, Alabama on April 26, 1862. He was captured at Fair Ground Hospital in Petersburg, VA on April 3, 1865. He died on April 17 after having his right leg amputated. He is buried at Fairground Hospital Cemetery in Petersburg, VA.
David Joiner, white Male, aged 16 years, born about 1834 in Alabama was recorded in the United States Census of 1850 as living with a family surnamed Miller, (The parents of the family were named Ezra Miller and Celia Miller) in Butler county, Butler, Alabama, United States.[1]
