Beatrice Maud Jolliffe (went by Maud) was born on 27 Nov 1899 in Preston, Brighton, Sussex, England to George Jolliffe and Annie Elizabeth (Apted) Jolliffe. Her birth was registered in Steyning, Sussex in the first quarter of 1900, with mother's maiden name Apted.^[1]

In 1901 Maud Jolliffe (age 1) lived in Preston with her father George (47, French Polisher), mother Annie (32), and three siblings: Edith (7), Kate (5), and George (3).^[2]

In 1911 Maud Jolliffe (age 11) lived in Preston with her father George (58, French Polisher for LB & SC Rly), mother Annie (43), sister Kate (15), and brother G W (13).^[3]
