Biography

Thomas Jolly was born in early 1862 as Thomas McGrath ^[1] in Heath Charnock (part of the Chorley Registration District ^[2]and baptised on 9 March 1862 at Christ Church, Adlington in Lancashire, England as Thomas Magrath. ^[3] Shortly afterwards his mother married James Jolly at Adlington ^[4]and in the two following censuses is described as the son of James. At his marriage in 1887 identifies James and Sarah as his parents. e gives his place of birth as Rivington which is very close to Heath Charnock. ( This information does conflict with the information given by one of his children after his death about his parents but the information from his marriage certificate is better supported)

When he was 25, he married Eliza Jane Creed on 23 Jul 1887 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. ^[5]

He died on 25 Aug 1939 in Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia. ^[6]
