Winter, dairyman, postoffice West View, was born Nov. 5, 1839, in East End, Pittsburgh (formerly Peebles township), a son of Edward and Elizabeth (Jones) Winter, natives of England. They had three children: Rachel, William E. and Anna H. The father died, and the mother afterward married Thomas Towers, a native of England, and to them were born three children: Moses (deceased), Walter T. (deceased) and John A.
