Biography

US Black Heritage Project
Lear (Jones) Renty is a part of US Black heritage.

Lear was born before 1836, based on her marriage to Lafayette Renty in 1852.

An 1852 letter written by John Evans, overseer of Chemonie, to George Noble Jones, owner of Chemonie Plantation, indicated that Lafayette was married to a woman named Rose who asked to separate from him because of his large number of children who were always fighting, and the fact that he married another wife named Lear in 1852.[1]
