Captain John Jones served with 18th Massachusetts Bay Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

John Jones was born on February 04, 1743 in Dedham, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay Colony. His father was John Jones. [1] [2]

Baptized, 5 February 1743, in Natick, Massachusetts. [3]

He married Betty Hapgood in Barre, Massachusetts, Oct, 19, 1769. [4] [2]

Captain John Jones of Princeton was a Lieutenant in Captain Boaz Moore's Company in Colonel Ephraim Doolittle's Regiment of Minute Men April 19, 1775. He was engaged April 24th as Captain in Colonel Epraim Doolittle's Regiment, was at the Battle of Bunker Hill and served under the same commander through the rest of the year . He died on July 04, 1776 in Fort Crown Point, Charlotte, New York Colony. [citation needed]

I found an unsourced story on Ancestry.com that John Jones died of smallpox en route to Crown Point. Does anyone have further information on his demise such as the location?
