Research Notes
- It's possible that Charles had been married previously before he married Mary Hall since he was in his 40s when they married.
- This 1890 record[5] lists "Persons residing in said District, not recognized as Cherokee Citizens, and who are under permit, either by the Nation or U. S." It includes Charles Jones, a 25-year-old farmer, employed by Mose Hubbard, who arrived in 1885, and had 2 horses, cattle, and hogs. There is a column on this form for "race or nationality", but on this page, the enumerator listed everyone as "American". Right age, right place, right job, but were there other Charles Jones in the area at the time?
