Biography

Walita (Jones) Trouillier is a part of US Black heritage.

Walita Jones was born on 30 March 1910 at Louisiana, USA.[1] She appeared on the census of 16 April 1910 in the household of her parents, Walter L. Jones and Marie Ursula (Nabonne) Jones, at New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.[2] She appeared on the census of 7 Feb. 1920 in the household of her parents at 323 North Rocheblave St., New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.[3] She graduated from Xavier University, Louisiana.[4]

She married Lionel Joseph Trouillier, son of Alcidase Trouillier and Rita (--?--), in Dec. 1934 in Orleans Parish, Louisiana. [5]

She and Lionel Joseph appeared on the census of 9 April 1940 at New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.[6]

Walita died on 10 May 1994 at Lafon Nursing Home, New Orleans, Louisiana, at age 84 and was buried at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3, 3421 Esplanade Ave., New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Louisiana.[4]

Trouillier - Walita Trouillier, a retired teacher for the Orleans Parish public school system, died Tuesday at Lafon Nursing Home. She was 84. Mrs. Trouillier was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She was a graduate of McDonough No. 35 High School and Xavier University. She was named Pioneer of Education in St. Landry Parish. She was a member of Corpus Christi Senior Citizens Association. Survivors include her husband, Lionel J. Trouillier Sr.; two sons, Lionel Jr. and Glenn Trouillier; a daughter, Merle T. Zimmerman; a brother, Oliver Jones; two sisters, Ellen J. Burgoyne and Elva Ashford; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Ave. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3.[4]
