BRISBANE FITZROY JONES
A correspondent kindly forwards vis the fol- lowing: — On Tuesday, October 1st, there passed away a very well known Hawkesbury River man, in Mr. Brisbane Fitzroy Jones, eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Jones, of 'Livingstone,' Colo River.
Mr. B. Jones died at the residence of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs. W. Dunn, of Brooklyn, Hawkesbury River, after a lengthy illness, which he bore with great fortitude, and through which he was devotedly nursed by his wife and daughter. The funeral took place on Wednesday, October 2, at the Church of England cemetery, Brooklyn, which is1 situated on the banks of the Hawkesbury River. This was in accordance with his request, as he wished to be close to the river he loved so well. The Rev. Colin Burgess, of Hornsby, conducted the service, many relations and friends being present. The floral tributes were very beautiful and numerous. Mr. Jones was born at the 'Mouth, of Colo' on January 28, 1865 — over 75 years ago— on the property then owned by his maternal grandfather, the late Mr. John Lamb, and now the home of his brother, Clyde, 'Riversview .' Mr. Jones resided most of his life on the Colo River, where he was greatly esteemed by all. Some 18 years ago he removed to Mona Vale, where he built a home and interested himself in glass-house tomato culture, etc., and where he made many friends. He leaves a widow, Ethelene (daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Geo. C. Johnson, one time of Windsor) a daughter, Dulcie (Mrs. W. Dunn), and three grandchildren, Gwen, Cliff and Joan, who deeply mourn him. Mr. Jones left a very wide circle of relations, amongst whom were seven brothers, who were all present at his graveside. They are Messrs. Wal and Val (Windsor), Clyde, George and Edward (Colo), Clarence (Freeman's Reach) and Will (Burwood) . There are three sisters, Mrs. E. Blundell (Hawkesbury River), (Mrs. E. Arnold (Quaker's Hill) and Mrs. Collison (Barrington Tops). 'Truly we can say the world is poorer by the passing of our dear friend 'Bris.' Jones.
