Margaret was born in 1839. Her father was James Jones.^[1]

1900 US Census Douglas County, Missouri The 1900 US census there is a William Hicks in Douglas County Missouri, wife Margaret who had been married 40 years and had 8 children, 4 were still living. Based on the others in the household, this is the right William and Margaret, but the numbers of years they had been married and the number of children is an error. ^[5]

William's first wife Hester, gave birth to a child June 25,1879 and died three days later June 28, 1879. Margaret was still married to James Johnson in 1871 and gave birth to Sarah Margaret In December of that year. So the years of their marriage could be 20 but not 40.

William's son William Jesse Hicks died in 1891 and his son Cecil was living with his grandfather. William Jesse's other four children were still living at that time, but I haven't located where they were in 1900.
