Biography

Hiram was born to Aaron Jones and Polly Smith in Leominster, Massachusetts. His given date of birth as August 25, 1802 appears unsourced. There is a record of his christening in Leominster, however, on February 12, 1804. ^[1]

He moved with his family from Massachusetts, possibly first to Lincoln, New Hampshire ^[2] (see discussion under his father Aaron's profile) and then to Orangeville, New York. ^[3]

Hiram married Lydia Ann Weaver in New York and in 1840 they had 4 children under 5 and one son between the age of 5 - 9. They lived in Orangeville. ^[4]

They later moved to nearby Sheldon, New York and Hiram died there of Typhoid Fever in June 1849. Note that his record of death gives his state of birth as New Hampshire. This is incorrect given the vital records from Leominster, Massachusetts. However, it does support the theory that his father and uncles moved their families first to New Hampshire and then to Orangeville. ^[5]

Hiram is buried in the Wilcox Cemetery in Orangeville Center, Wyoming County, New York. ^[6]
