DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with James:

Jones-37418 and Jones-32310 appear to represent the same person because: Hello,

I'm one of the admins for the FamilyTreeDNA Y-DNA Jones surname project here:

https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/jonessurname/about/background

We have a Y-DNA line that includes this James Jones so we're just wanting to add DNA hooks in for the entire line -- for the benefit of James's descendants.

Here's the pedigree:

http://www.jones-dna.org/#/pedigrees/pedigree/5645056174194688

This pedigree corresponds with a unique family group that we've identified and we're attempting to integrate into WikiTree into our surname project. Here are all the groups we've currently published:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Jones_Name_Study

This new family group will be here when it's done:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Jones_Y-DNA_Project_R-M269_Group-014

As we're going through this, we see there's 2 James Joneses with the same parents (these two James Joneses in this merge request). So it seems highly likely this is a duplicate. So we're attempting to initiate this merge.

If you have any questions/concerns, please contact us.

Best,

Zak Jones (volunteer admin - FTDNA Jones) - ftdna.jones@gmail.com
