Biography

Mary (Elizabeth, Eliza or Margaret) Jones was born about 1795 in Culpeper County Virginia, United States. She was likely the daughter of Bailey (Bayley) Jones 1755-1850 and Lucy Corbin 1765-1880.

She had one sister, Agnes Jones, 1795-1865. Interestingly, she and her sister Agnes both show a DOB of 1795. Since they are both estimates it is difficult to determine whether one DOB is wrong, they are twins or they were actually both born in 1795 just 9 months apart.

Mary married Aaron Thompson (aka Thompson) Glass in 1814 likely in Virginia, United States.

Aaron and Mary had 11 children: Alexander Glass, Thompson Peter Glass, Vincent Glass, William Glass, Amanda (Glass) Harris, Alzinia (Glass) Carpenter, Washington Glass, Elizabeth (Glass) Williamson, Mary A (Glass) White, James Glass, and Eliza (Glass) Brown. Many of these children appear on census records with their father and his 2nd wife after Mary passed away.

Mary (Jones) Glass LIKELY passed away on 03 November 1835 in Rock Hill, Flushing Township, Belmont County, Ohio, United States. What is thought to be her tombstone is beside Aaron Glass' tombstone at the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. ^[1]

Her husband Aaron Thompson Glass remarried to Margaret Bigley and had a son, George Washington Glass in 1856.

There is very little known about Mary Jones Glass. If a family Bible is found that may shed some light on her birth and death dates. At this time nothing has been found except for the tombstone which is said to be badly worn.Glass-4608 05:35, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
