Biography

Eliza Jones was born in 1835, to John Jones and Alafair Meek, in Conway, Arkansas. She married Martin W. Standridge in 1854, and had children Elizabeth, John and Mary Alafair. Husband Martin dies and she marries Alexander Standridge, and has daughters Emily Tennessee and Tabitha. She dies about 1870, in Newton, Arkansas.

Research Notes

Eliza is the known daughter of John and Alafair Meek Jones. She is documented on father John Jones Old Settler Roll.

Birthdate Estimation

Eliza lists her birth year as 1838 on her 1870 Census. She is listed on father John's 1840 Census age group (5-9 years) which gives her an accurate birthdate of 1835, and her birthdate is verified on John Jones 1850 Census.

John Jones 1850 Census

1850 Census listed an Elizah, male, born 1835, who is actually daughter Eliza. This is a census taker mistake. This fact this is a confirmed mistake is based on John Jones 1840 Census, that lists only 2 males correct age group (under 5). These 2 sons are documented as John born 1837, and son Lewis born 1839. Proof there was not a son named Elizah/ Elijah, and this was Eliza his daughter.

Eliza is the widow of Martin W. Standridge who dies in the Civil War, in 1863. She married Alexander Standridge on 11 Oct 1865, in Johnson, Arkansas She had children Emily Tennessee and Tabitha.

Added additional sources and research notes. Added correct daughters Elizabeth, Mary Alafair, Emily Tennessee and Tabitha. Hopefully this clarifies who Eliza Jones was, her husbands, and children. If you need any other help please let me know.

Elizabeth Jones Brassfield Jones-42446 and Jones- 37430 are not the same person, they are half sister's. There were existing generated profiles confusing Elizabeth and Eliza for each other, and who they married. I have delineated these 2 sisters and corrected these existing profiles.

Added sources and research notes to Eliza Jones-37430. Hope that helps.

THANK YOU!!!! For sourcing her better!!! I had worked on the Meeks and Standridges some time ago till my brain fried. Eliza and Elizabeth are aunt and neice and I'm not sure which is which.

Your welcomed. I am a direct Meek descendent, with passed down knowledge and understand their history. I am not related to the Standridges, but am willing to help.

I'm not even related to either, except maybe by marriage possibly. Just got the Red River mud flowing for blood.

Jones-42446 and Jones-37430 do not represent the same person because: At first I approved this merge, then relooked at it. There are too many Elizabeth Jones, too common of a name. When did she marry Galyean? There isn't enough research on her to actually determine that all three of these men are her husbands. Standridge and Meeks were large families.

Jones-46701 and Jones-37430 appear to represent the same person because: I"m not too sure about one of her last names being Meek, but the 1850 census only shows one Mary Elizabeth b. abt 1840, twin of James.

Newton was part of Carroll County before 14 Dec 1842. Space:Arkansas_County_Formation_and_County_Seats

I can work on 1830 and 1840 Census for Carroll and other surrounding Counties, But I can't work Newton before 1850, unless there is a 1845 state census.

Jones-37430 and Jones-46906 appear to represent the same person because: These two look an awful lot a like. Same birth & death year, same husband, etc. Please take a look at them and see if they are the same and can be merged.
