Biography

1881/1882: Charles Stuart Jones was born on the 1st of March in either 1881 or 1882 in Totaro District, Brunswick County, Virginia, USA. In his social security files^[1], Virginia death index entry^[2], and his World War II registration^[3] he was born in 1881 while in his World War I registration^[4] he was born in 1882. His parents were Ravenscroft Jones and Mary Mildred Lewis of Totaro District in Brunswick County and he was the elder of their two sons.

1914: On the 23rd of November 1914 Stuart obtained a license to marry Nannie Caldwell Buford in Caswell County, North Carolina, USA and on the 24th of November 1914 Nannie and Stuart were married at the home of her brother Preston Buford near Semora, Caswell County, North Carolina^[5]. Nannie was the daughter of Andrew Buford and the late Carrie Caldwell of Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina.

1921: Nannie died of appendicitis on the 23rd of May, 1921^[6] in Brunswick County, Virginia and is buried in the John Ravenscroft Jones Family Cemetery in Brunswick County, Virginia.

1925: Stuart married again on the 20th of April 1925 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA^[7]. His bride was Lillian Bracey Clarke, a daughter of Jesse C Clarke and Alva Bracey of Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida.

1966: Charles Stuart Jones passed away on the 20th of October 1966 at South Hill, Mecklenburg County, Virginia^[2] and was buried at Crestview Memorial Park, South Hill, Mecklenburg County, Virginia^[8]. He was survived by his wife Lillian and daughters Eula and Mary.
