Biography
Charles Albert Jones was born on 27 April 1843 in Sullivan Township, Tioga, Pennsylvania, United States. He was the son of Granville Jones, 1807–1883, and his wife, Caroline D. Hurd, 1818–1900. On the 1850 US Census, Charles A Jones was 7 years old, living with his parents and 3 siblings in Sullivan, Tioga, Pennsylvania, USA. His parents and older siblings had been born in Massachusetts. - "Veteran Civil War, Private, Company A, 14th Infantry Regiment, US Army, enlisted 27 Aug 1862, separated 31 Jan 1867. Suffered sun stroke while in service and chronic diarrhea after service. Son of Granville Jones (1807 - 1883) and Caroline Hurd Jones.
- He first married Olivia Rumsey (1839 - 1874) of Shippen Township, Tioga County PA. Parents of: Mrs. Gertrude Jones Gillett (1864 - 1932), Walter M. Jones (1868 - 1936), Joseph Rumsey Jones (1871 - 1936), and twins Mrs. Olivia N. Jones Wilcox (1874 - 1898) and Albert C. Jones (1874 - 1950). Olivia died giving birth to the twins."
