Biography

Mr. Andrew P. Jones died at his residence, Augusta-street, Glenelg, on Thursday evening. The deceased, who had reached his 95th year, arrived in South Australia in the fifties, and founded the firm of Messrs. A. Jones & Sons, which is now one of the oldest established iron foundries in the State. Mr. Jones retired from active participation in the business 30 years ago, and had resided at Glenelg the greater portion of that time, with his daughter, Mrs. Brain. Mr. Jones took no part in public affairs, but at one time filled the office of worshipful master of the Duke of Leinster Lodge of Freemasons, I.C. He left two sons, Messrs. John and Henry Jones, who still carry on the iron foundry business.^[1]
