Find a Grave Find A Grave: Memorial #42591321 page has an article that states the following: [1]
Frederick Whiting was born in eastern Connecticut in 1759. When his mother remarried and moved to North Carolina, Whiting - given the last name of Jones - stayed in Connecticut with his grandparents and adopted their last name.

Whiting came to Danbury because of the British invasion of the city in 1777 to destroy the military stores that had been stockpiled there.

In Danbury, Whiting married Rachel Starr - her father was Maj. Daniel Starr.

After the war, Whiting stayed in Danbury and helped found the local lodge of the Freemasons. he died young, at the age of 45. Rachell Starr is buried next to him; Daniel Starr is a few rows away.

Whiting headstone fell off its base at the Old Burying Ground. New Plaque was installed adding his military service to his resting place.

Father: Harding Jones of Newburn, Carven, NC, deceased before he was born.
Married Rachel Starr, 18 May 1783 @ Danbury, CT
In the 1790 Census, Frederick is listed as owning one slave. This could be the "negro girl Piney" his wife inherited from her father in 1777.
In an affidavit dated 1792, John McLean declared he had negro Samuel, b. 1787, in the household of Frederick J. Whiting, Samuel's parents were Cato & Viny.
He is buried in Wooster Street Cemetery 'Old Burying Ground', Danbury, Fairfield, CT [2]
