Daniel Henry Jones was an early settler of Harrison County, Texas. He was born in Ohio, reached manhood in Tennessee, & moved with his family to Texas around the year 1850. He fathered 17 children & was the first Justice of the Peace in NW Harrison County, Texas.[1]
The family homestead was located on the Daniel Jones survey.[2]
"Most of the early settlers came from Tennessee and surrounding states. Two of the earliest settlers were Daniel Jones and Benjamin Parker. Most property deeds in the area trace their origin to the Daniel Jones Survey or the Benjamin Parker Survey. Family names of other early settlers and present residents include Wright, Perkins, Newman, McBride, Star, Evers, Reid, Maddox, Ramsey, Davis, Wagner, Smith, Ruggles, Shepherds, Peterson and Muntz."[3]
