Robert Jones, jun., was born at Portadown, county Armagh in 1879. He was the son of Robert Jones, army pensioner, and Martha Dale.[1]
On 14th November 1914, he married Helen Ann Bateman Murdock in St Luke's church, parish of Lower Falls in Belfast.[2]
Robert's and Helen's eldest child, Agnes, was born in 1913,[3] and their youngest, William John, in 1917.[4] William was yet a toddler, aged two years ten months, when he died of broncho-pneumonia in March, 1920.[5]
In about 1934, The family removed to Dundee in Scotland, where Robert worked as foreman french polisher for the Caledon Shipyard.[6] His wife, Helen, died at Dundee in 1947, aged sixty-two years.[7][8]
Robert Jones was killed in an industrial accident in the Caledon Shipyard on 25th November 1949. He was seventy years of age.[6][9][10] After a coroner's examination, his body was cremated, and the ashes were interred in Belfast City Cemetery the following spring.[11]
