We're so happy to see you are still active on WikiTree and caring about the Dutch profiles. The Dutch Roots Project is looking forward to give the project a new fresh start to put the Dutch in a more prominent place on the WikiTree map. The project is currently managing over 50,000 profiles and the total number of Dutch profiles on WikiTree exceeds 500,000! Within the project we are monitoring the quality of the Dutch profiles and assisting other WikiTreers in producing those profiles. We would love to pick up some other tasks but to do so we need more volunteers. This is why we check in with the members of the DRP to see if you would like to help us expand.

1) Would you like to do some volunteer work for the Dutch Roots Project? 2) If yes, what kind of work would you prefer to do within the Dutch Roots Project? E.g. translating, sourcing, or something else you want to work on?

We hope for a positive reaction but please don't feel obliged to volunteer. We just want to have a group of persons we can ask to help us with certain activities

The 6th Source-a-Thon will take place from the 1st of October till the 4th of October. This Thon is all about adding accurate sources to unsourced profiles and improving the accuracy of WikiTree. Thanks for creating sourced pre-1700 profiles like Jan Krijger (abt.1680-).

Please try to provide at least a birth or death location estimate rather than leaving both locations blank. This helps disambiguate people since we have a global tree, locations help distinguish one profile of the same name from another. Even an estimate such as a continent, e.g., Europe or North America, is better than blank. Please read more here. You can explain the rationale for your estimate in a = = Research Notes = = section.

For example, in the case of Jan, his son is born in the Netherlands, so lacking any other evidence, it is likely that Jan was also born or perhaps more likely died in the Netherlands, so that would be a reasonable estimate for one or the other that can be marked as uncertain and explained in the research notes.

After a great Liberation day challenge, the Connect-a-Thon is coming up, it will take place from Friday 17 July 2020-Monday 20 July 2020) so everyone is invited to join the Flying Dutchmen Team - Vliegende Hollanders..so let's all hop on the boat (teampage) ;) again and have some fun together.
