Biography

Note: No record for any of these marriages found in Ancestry (Jun 2017). Based on census data, the marriage to Rachel is unlikely, while his second marriage was probably to Ann but around 1857 not 1885 as presently listed.

William Jordan was born about 1821 in Alabama, USA.[1][2][3] (Pickens or Neshoboe County, Alabama?)

William married Janerius / Demerius [spelling?] Reed [unsourced] probably around 1837/1838 based on his age and the birth of their first child.[1]

In the 1850 United States census, William Jordan (born about 1821 in Alabama) was married to Janerius Jordan (born about 1817 in Georgia). They were living in Caldwell, Texas, United States with their children Perlina (12), Sarah Ann (5), Mary J (4) and James F (2). The children were all born in Mississippi. They were farmers.[1]

William subsequently married Ann Elizabeth Sanders [unsourced], between 1850 and 1860.

In the 1860 United States census, William Jordan (born about 1821 in Alabama) was married to Ann E Jordan. They were living in Caldwell Texas with children Sarah Ann (16), Mary J (14), James F (11), A A (9), Irena (3) and Elizabeth (6 months).[2]

In the 1870 United States census, William Jordan (born about 1821 in Alabama) was married to Anne Jordan (born about 1830 in Louisiana). They were still living in Caldwell, Texas, with children Lizzie (10), Virginia (9), William (6) and John (5).[3]

William died before 1874 as his wife Ann E Jordan filed for a Civil War veteran widow pension on 25 Sept 1874.[4]
