Obituary

REYES, Candace “Candy” Beth (age 58) passed away June 6, 2008 at her home in Thornton, WA. She was born September 3, 1949 in Colfax, WA to Charlie and Betty Hawk Jordan.

Candy grew up in the Winona area and graduated from the Upper Columbia Academy in Spangle, WA. After her graduation, she attended Walla Walla College for 2 years and then went to work for the Forest Service. Candy moved to the Leavenworth and Wenatchee areas, where she married and later divorced. Here she earned her LPN and CNA licenses and went to work for area nursing homes. She then worked as a counselor for a family planning practice and later was an interpreter for the Chelan County Prosecuting Attorney. Candy moved to Thornton in 1993, where she remained until her passing. She worked as a CNA at the Whitman Health & Rehab Center in Colfax until about 5 ½ years ago. Candy was a member of the Endicott Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Spokane Storytellers League and helped in the Chicken Barn at the Palouse Empire Fair for many years. She enjoyed knitting, camping, reading, was a great story teller, and loved animals, traveling and baking bread everyday. There were no strangers to Candy, just friends she hadn’t met yet. Candy especially loved spending time with her daughter, Tyra, whom she was inseparable with. She was able to see Tyra become 1st Princess in the Miss Oakesdale Pageant just a couple of months ago.

Candy is survived by her daughter, Tyra Rose Reyes of Thornton; her father, Charlie Jordan, of Thornton; her brother and two sisters, Chuck Jordan and his wife Scottia of Winona, WA, Charlene Nunn and her husband, Spencer of Endicott, WA and Peggy Roth of Paradise, CA and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother.

A Memorial Service is going to be held Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 2 PM at the Endicott Seventh Day Adventist Church. The family suggests memorials be made to the Whitman County Humane Society or to the American Cancer Society. Bruning Funeral Home, Colfax, WA is caring for the family. [1]
