Catherine Ledger Jordan was born on 31 January, 1901 to George and Elizabeth Jordan (Jordan-9030 and Ledger-230) at Tynemouth, Northumberland, England, probably at Seaton Delaval[1][2].
At the time of the 1901 Census, Catherine L., 2 mos., was living with her parents, George, 31, a Hewer of Coal, and Elizabeth, 27, and siblings Sarah, 8, and Robert, 5, in the home of her Grandparents, George, 71, a Retired Deputy Fireman, and Elizabeth, 67, at 53 Wheatridge Row in Seaton Delaval[3].
Catherine's niece June recalls that her aunt was called Katie by parents, friends and siblings and Auntie Katie by her nieces and nephews[4].
The family immigrated to Canada in 1909, sailing from Liverpool, England on 4 November aboard the SS Dominion and arriving in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 14 November. The Passenger list recorded that George Jordan, 40, Miner, wife Mary, 37, and children Sarah, 17, Domestic, Robert, 15, Miner, Kate, 8, Annie, 3, and George, 2, were destined for Lethbridge, Alberta, and that their religion was Church of England[5][6].
At the time of the 1911 Census of Canada, Catherine, 10, born January 1901, a Student, was living with her parents, George, 41, a Miner, born June, 1869, and Mary E., 38, born April, 1872, and siblings Sarah E., 18, born February, 1892, Robert, 17, born March 1898, a Labourer, Annie, 5, born January, 1906, George W?, 3, born February, 1907, and Harold, not yet 1, born May, 1910, at Hardieville, Lethbridge, Alberta (Township 9)[7]. Also in the home were Lodgers Joseph McLean, 27, born February 1893 in Scotland, a miner (Sarah's future husband), Alexander Little, 22, born June, 1888 in Scotland, a Timberman, and Will J(?)obbinson, 44, born 1866 in England, a miner. Everyone who was employed was employed by the Coal Mine.
At the time of the 1916 Census, Katy Jordan, 15, was living with her parents, George, 47, Weighman, and Mary Jordan, 43, siblings Robert, 23, Soldier, Mary, 10, George, 8, and Harold, 5, and lodgers Fred Paget, 24, born England, Alexander Welly, 33, born Scotland, and Robert Redhead, 44, born England, all Soldiers at Bellevue, Alberta[8].
Kate L. Jordan married Edward Wilson Atkinson at Bellevue, Alberta, in 1920[9].

Katherine Ledger Atkinson died on 30 June 1973, aged 72 years, at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada[10]. Her Registration of Death records her name as Katherine with a "K." At the time of her death, Katy's address was 2797 S.W. Marine Drive, Vancouver.
Kate L. Atkinson was cremated on 4 July, 1973 and her remains were interred at Ocean View Garden Chapel in Burnaby, British Columbia[11].
