Chicago Tribune 9 August 1940, p. 25: Curnes - Alice Curnes (nee Jordan) of 1608 S. 20th avenue, Maywood, suddenly, beloved wife of Walker H., dear mother of Delorous, Mary, Thomas W., Harry J., and John E. Curnes, sister of Thomas B. Jordan, Harry J. Jordan, and the late Marion McDonough, Theresa Jordan, and James Jordan. Funeral Saturday, Aug. 10, at 9 a.m., from funeral home, 301 S. 5th avenue at Maple Street, Maywood, to St. Eulalia's church. Interment Mount Carmel. Maywood 100.

The Osceola (Iowa) Sentinel 8 August 1940 p.1: Mrs. Walker Curnes Died in Illinois. Suffered Fatal Heart Attack After Attending Services of W.B. Curnes Here Last Week. Mrs Alice Curnes, 46, wife of Walker Curnes passed away at her home in Maywood, Ill., Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs. Curnes with their six-year-old daughter Mary left Osceola Tuesday after spending several days here and attending the funeral of Walker's father W.B. Curnes. She had been suffering from a heart ailment and complications for some time but had been able to be about. Surviving are the husband and five children, Deloris, harry, Tom, John and Mary. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Curnes and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Curnes Jr. are leaving in the morning (Friday) for Maywood to attend the funeral which will probably be Saturday.
