Lars was murdered in 1912 just shy of 60 years old. He was "the most prominent resident" of Grant, FL. He left to deliver groceries (he owned the store) and collect accounts. He was shot about halfway between Grant and Valkaria.
He immigrated to the US in 1889 on the Lahn.
