Biography
Sarah "Sally" Jose was born on 14 March 1779 in Buxton, Maine. Her parents were John Jose and Abigail (Milliken) Jose[1].
She married James March on 9 July 1800 in Buxton, Maine[2]. They settled in Gorham and had eight children[3]:
- 1. Anna, born 16 May 1801; married John Farnham
- 2. Abigail Munson, born 5 Jul 1803; married Daniel Marrett
- 3. Hannah, born 9 Dec 1805; married William H. Peabody
- 4. Sarah Jose, born 29 Dec 1807; married 1st Samuel Valentine, 2nd James Ginn
- 5. Mary Maria, born 21 Jan 1809; married Isaac C. Irish
- 6. Lucinda Page, born 6 Oct 1812; married John C. Proctor
- 7. Emily Porter, born 6 Nov 1814; married Charles Roby
- 8. Caroline Elizabeth, born 17 Jul 1822; married Augustus F. Gerrish
Sarah passed away on 22 August 1863[4] and is buried in South Street Cemetery in Gorham.
