Biography

Francois dit Bellerose Joubert, son of Pierre Joubert and Catherine Pitre, was baptized on 27 December 1781 at age 8 months. His baptism was recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[1]

He married Sophie Doucet, daughter of Pierre Doucet and Therese Brignac, on 9 February 1807 at Opelousas.[2]

Francois and Sophie had these known children:

  2. Felonise Joubert, b. 5 Nov 1809
  3. child, d. about 6 Feb 1812[3]
  4. Francois Joubert, b. 18 Jul 1813, d. about 1 Sep 1816[4]
  5. Jean Baptiste Joubert (twin), b. 3 Jul 1815,[5] d. about 2 Sep 1816[6]
  6. Pierre Joubert (twin), b. 3 Jul 1815,[7] d. about 14 Aug 1816[8][9]
  7. Onezime Joubert, b. 16 Jul 1817
  8. Euphrosine Joubert, b. 25 Sep 1819[10][11]

Francois died before March 1822, when his succession was filed at the Opelousas Courthouse.[12]
